⚠️This blog post contains spoilers for episodes 4-6 of Ironheart!⚠️
And we are BACK with another blog post for the week! Sorry I had to postpone this for a bit my friends. My week last week got CRAZY busy, but I’m excited to chat with you guys about Ironheart Episodes 4, 5 and 6 today! As always, this blog post will contain spoilers, so if you don’t want to be spoiled this is your chance to EXIT THE BLOG. Alrighty, let’s jump right into episode 4. I love love love LOVE Zelma’s character, and I hope we get so much more of her in the future of the MCU!! Maybe it’s because I loved Agatha so much, and I have been craving more witchy MCU magic lately hahah 😂 Anyways, she was such a fun addition to the cast, and I’m so curious how she is going to tie in to future projects! I adored her whole vibe. I thought the addition to the plot of Xavier being upset about making Natalie into an AI was a GREAT topic to add into the overall show, especially since that is a continuing issue and discussion in real life. Should we be using AI to create replicas of those we have lost? It’s a deep conversation, and they addressed this so well. I will say, I have to admit that I was kind of sad with the direction they ended up going with Zeke. I was so excited for him to have kind of more of a redemption and not turn into a crazy monster guy who wants to kill his Iron Man equivalent. So when they charged him up with super tech to make him the bad guy, I was kind of disappointed. I’m sure there will be more to his story as they continue to have him in the MCU, but I felt like the whole point of his character is that he didn’t want to follow in his dad’s footsteps and be the bad guy, so I was kind of sad when the story lead in that general direction. I know that towards the end he kind of shows that he doesn’t want to be fighting Riri and plays both sides of the coin, but man, I wanted more than anything to have a kind of Riri and Zeke buddy cop moment, and was sad we didn’t get that ☹️ Anyway, that leads us into the plot of episode 5. Literally, when they started talking about Dormammu, I was CRACKING up because I had literally guessed that in my last blog post about the first three episodes! Obviously, that ended up being a red herring, but for a handful of seconds it was absolutely hilarious to me. Then, Parker’s crew all fight Riri in a White Castle and she’s almost killed by Zeke. Parker taking control of Zeke was absolutely NOT the vibe, I hated that for him so much!! And gonna be so real, that also kind of bothered me, too. You’d think that for someone who knows that these people were NOT good people, and also someone who knows the general workings of the tech that he has bought, that he would have maybe realized that Parker was up to something? But I guess that is also the point. He was desperate to get out of jail, and this was the solution. I dunno. Zeke’s plot overall was both entertaining and also made me kind of upset (if you couldn’t tell HAHAH). But thank you, Zeke for trying to save Riri and telling Parker she was dead when she wasn’t! Slay of you! And then Riri building her new suit out of Gary’s old car was SUCH a cool thing for them to do, I absolutely loved that! And her new suit looks sick! I hope they keep it for a little bit. I feel like the MCU costuming department has a tendency to give them a brand new costume at the end of the show, only for them to have something completely different when they show up again in a different project. Which is super cool, because I love having outfit variety! But this suit is just so perfect 😍 Losing N.A.T.A.L.I.E. to the magic in the suit though? Not a slay there. That was a bummer :( Alrighty, let’s wrap this up with Episode 6. Arthur being Parker’s dad was a plot twist that I truly should have seen coming, but did not, and that made it all the more entertaining HAHAH. This show was just full of surprises! And then it was revealed that, instead of Dormammu, this whole time it was MEPHISTO!!! The character that we have wanted in the MCU for YEARS has finally arrived! It’s super exciting to have him in the MCU, especially after so many years of people wondering if he was going to be tied to the other plots. And super super interesting to have him in this specific project as well! Riri frees Zeke from the hold that Parker has on him, and I hope that this means they are on good terms and will continue to see each other in the MCU!! I loved their interactions, they were so much fun. And then Riri battles it out with Parker and takes the cloak from him, winning the battle. Now bear with me guys, because this is where I kinda start to not like the end of this show. After all that, while watching the way that Mephisto had corrupted Parker and KNOWING how evil Mephisto is, she still decides to make the deal with him to bring back Natalie 😭 And I know, I know. There’s multiple reasons for this. Riri would obviously do anything to get Natalie back, even making a deal with the literal devil. And I know Riri’s whole vibe is that she kind of has a chip on her shoulder, god complex, and feels that she can kinda figure her way out of this one. But personally, I felt that the ending (for me) wasn’t as satisfying as I had hoped 😭 Now I’m sure this will lead us directly into Doomsday, and will have a larger effect on the greater plot of the MCU and everything, and the more I’ve been sitting with it, the less the ending bothers me and makes sense to her character. But to be completely honest, the end wasn’t my favorite. I wish they had gone a different direction with it. All this to say though, even though I did not completely enjoy the ending of the show, I really did enjoy Ironheart overall! Maybe I just need to sit with Riri’s character some more, give the show a little rewatch, and think more in the bigger picture of things and how this show will affect the greater MCU. Also Zelma talking with Parker!! I need to know where it’s going. I’m seeing a lot of people saying there may be a potential to have a version of Strange Academy, and I would love to see that! Bring back our witches! Give us more Jen and Zelma, give us more America Chavez! What did you all think of Ironheart? I’ve been seeing such positive feedback online, and that makes me so happy! Dominique Thorne deserves all the praise for her acting in this role, and I’m excited to see more of her soon—hopefully in Doomsday! Until next time my loves :) -Jess <3

⚠️This blog post contains spoilers for episodes 1-3 of Ironheart⚠️
Happy Thursday, my friends! Hope this week has been treating you all well. I’ve been consuming a ton of new media this week, one of those including the first three episodes of the newest Marvel show, Ironheart! You all know I’m always so excited for new Marvel projects, and this one was no exception. I’ve been missing some Iron Man type action, and this show absolutely brings that (and more!) back to the table. So let’s jump into it! Let’s dive into that first episode. As someone who grew up in the Boston area, it’s always so exciting to see it represented in projects. I loved getting to see a little more of Riri at MIT on the screen! But of course, that was short lived when Riri was expelled from the school. I loved how her AI in her suit at the beginning was supposed to be a little spin on Clippy, the clip art paper clip. One of my favorite things about these Marvel projects is getting to learn more of the lore behind all of the newer characters we have, so this episode was especially exciting getting to learn more about Riri’s family, and her history with Natalie, her bestie. I also super enjoyed getting to see how she handled the elevator scene, trying to escape the poisonous gas! It’s clear Parker wanted her to solve it a particular way, to get the gas mask, but she went a whole other route and basically broke down the elevator. I think that’s also such a great way to show that Riri beats to her own drum, and finds her own way. The crew she’s been working with these last three episodes is so fun. I especially love Shea Couleé’s character. They are absolutely killing it, and I’m always cracking up when they are on the screen 😂 And then of course, episode one ends with Riri waking up to her accidental creation of the N.A.T.A.L.I.E. AI. Such a cool twist! I was so curious to see what direction they were going to go with Riri’s AI, and I was really happy with what they ended up doing with N.A.T.A.L.I.E. I know in the comics, there is a version where Riri uses Tony Stark as her AI, but I was pretty sure they weren’t going to go that route (especially since they have RDJ currently contracted as Doom. It just seemed unlikely.) So this was a great outcome! Alrighty, episode two. We get the first in-action job with The Hood’s team. This episode was SUPER cool. I love how the MCU is constantly thinking of new technology to incorporate into their stories—like these underground car tunnels in this episode. Super super creative, and it was such an awesome way to watch Riri interact with N.A.T.A.L.I.E. and the tech around her. And of course, this is the episode we are first introduced to Joe. The scene of the two of them belting songs together in the car was cracking me up 😂 and I loved how even though he’s a black market arm’s dealer, he’s like the chillest version of them ever HAHAH. He’s so gentle for someone who sells all these illegal weapons. Especially with his little “Live, Laugh, Love” signs everywhere 🤭 I’m also interested in N.A.T.A.L.I.E. glitching when she was reminded of her real-life counterpart’s death. I feel that this isn’t actually a glitch in N.A.T.A.L.I.E.’s firmware, but rather because Riri still has not processed or fully grieved the death of her best friend and her stepfather, and this probably translated over when she did her brain scan to create N.A.T.A.L.I.E. I’m curious to see how the MCU continues to address this as the show goes on, because it’s such a heavy topic. But I love love love how Marvel has been so unafraid lately to discuss topics of mental health with their characters. I feel like it makes them seem more real, in a way. Not perfect super-beings. Let’s wrap this up with episode three! I’m so excited to learn more about The Hood and his past. Especially as they feed us little details here and there, like the scaling on his back, and how at the end he’s yelling at someone, or something? My guess right now is that maybe he is in talks with Dormammu? I could be TOTALLY off on that one, though. I guess only time will tell! I also thought N.A.T.A.L.I.E. having a little necklace piece that Riri wears was such a cute way to untether her from the suit (I hope they sell that as an actual jewelry piece!). And then THE OBADIAH STANE CONNECTION?! I could scream. Joe actually being Ezekiel Stane was a CRAZY plot twist I was not expecting (also him keeping his father’s ashes in a ziplock bag is WILDDDD hahaha 😂). What a cool way to tie in some past Iron Man connection while still keeping the story fresh and new with Riri. It was a perfect tie in, in my opinion. And then we get left on quite a cliffhanger, with Riri losing the biomesh skin and having a pretty bad panic attack. But we know our girl is smart—she’ll figure this out! Also can we talk real quick about how fun the title cards for each episode have been? I love that they incorporate them into the scenes, like Riri crashing into the street, or the money raining from the ceiling in episode three. This project has been so fun and creative so far, and I cannot wait to see what the last three episodes next week bring us! I wish this show was on a one-episode-weekly release schedule so we could extend the love—it’s been so much fun so far! What do you all think of Ironheart so far? Feel free to drop a comment below, or in my Instagram Subscriber Broadcast! I love seeing what you all are thinking about current projects :) Until next week’s review! -Jess <3 |
